[ stopping the hunt for more clothes to turn his head toward owain. he looks like he's about to insist, then stops.

let's try this again, less fiercely and more gently. ] If our positions were reversed, what would you say to me?

[ he gives gerome a long, searching look before he nods once.

then he starts undoing his shirt ]

[ he thought so. turning his head again so his back is to owain.

guess he's waiting like this now. ]

[ eventually he calls out to Gerome ]

I'm finished.

[maskarang]

[ well, that was torturous. abandons the dresser and turns to owain. he stops and looks away. ] A somber look ill-suits you. My apologies, I should have chosen something less... dreary.

[swordhandled]

You can't help the clothes you were given, Gerome.

[maskarang]

The clothes and staff aren't at fault. [ his style is. alas, no need to say that. he nods to minerva before coming over and picking up owain's clothes from wherever they are. ]

Hm, perhaps not for this.

[maskarang]

... Anyway, you may need more warmth than those new clothes alone provide. Minerva— [ she rises, stretches, and then drops her head sluggishly onto owain's lap ] —should be sufficient. She's quite warm. And exceptionally cuddly.

[swordhandled]

[ another bit of a pause and owain softly smiles here, probably for the first time since gerome has found him. he does not say anything, but his hand finds itself on the top of her head and he starts to pet her ]

[maskarang]

[ ... an improvement. not wanting to interrupt owain's progress, gerome slips soundlessly from the room into the bathroom to hang these clothes. ]

[ owain isn't going to move just yet. he's gonna cuddle this tiny wyvern, but when gerome re-enters he's going to speak up to him ] You know, it's still strange for her to be this small.

[maskarang]

[ cuddle away. she's probably doing the wyvern equivalent of a purr. ] It is. There are days I catch her from the corner of my eye and expect her to be her normal size. It only takes a moment more before I realize my eyes are playing tricks on me, but that moment can be... difficult.

How do you deal with those moments?

[maskarang]

[ brow raise ] I vow to return her to her former glory. It may take time, but she is more than worthy of the effort.

[swordhandled]

[ lets out a small smile ] Simple enough, but effective.

[maskarang]

That's the aim. [ momentarily glancing away. after some thought, he moves to sit next to owain. ]

[swordhandled]

[ looking back down at Minerva, petting her ] Ask. I know you want to.

[maskarang]

I won't deny it. When I sought you out, I was expecting... [ a beat. ] Well, a much different scene.

[swordhandled]

What were you expecting?

[maskarang]

Tears, mainly.

[swordhandled]

Hey, just because I spend a lot of time with Brady--
