[ taking his hand and begins pulling himself up. it starts out okay, but then devolves pretty quick when his foot slips and he starts desperately clutching whatever's closest to try and regain his balance. ]

[ he's trying to help, but gerome suddenly losing his balance causes him to trip up, losing his own and he falls, the only thing keeping him from falling onto gerome is him catching himself on the edge of the tub ]

[ now that's just unfair. not that he wanted owain to fall in, but he does glare at the tub when owain catches himself. ]

... It's more slippery than I remember. [ from his many uses of tubs in the past, including this morning. ]

Maybe... parts of it were still wet? [ he's trying to not say anything about how uncharacteristically clumsy gerome is being ]

I would have noticed. [ so he says but suddenly he isn't so sure. he... guesses it isn't a big deal? but it also is.

extremely determined to get out of this stupid tub now to make sure his entire back isn't wet. nudging owain up as he gives up on his dignity to wiggle his way to freedom. ]

[ slides up but still staying close in case he needs up.

[ he's on a MISSION now!! thanks to his lack of grace he makes it out by basically just crawling over the side of the tub and depositing himself on the ground. from there, it isn't too hard to get up.

when he checks, yes, his back is damp. ] ... Seems I wouldn't have.

--Well, at least you were already planning on bathing.

[ he can't help the small huff of laughter at the sight of his damp shirt, but owain is keeping it contained. he knows gerome's pride suffered a blow from this. he does audibly swallow when he sees the damp shirt cling to his back, but shakes his head to clear his mind. nnnnot the time for that

he reaches out and tug at the hem of the shirt ] You should go ahead and take this off.

[ his plan was to sulkily storm out of the bathroom to change but, honestly? owain's tug distracts him enough to forget his frustration. ahem. ]

It is quite cold. [ so, yes. he should. resting his fingers over owain's for a second before lightly tugging the shirt up. unless owain decides to help, he continues at that slow pace until stopping when the shirt is covering his head. ]

[ and provide him with a different frustration ]

It [ coughs ] is. [ he's not helping, because owain feels that if he does it might have different results. so instead he takes a small step to the side and watches as gerome pulls the shirt up to his head, waiting for it to come completely off ]

[ it doesn't come completely off. two tugs later and gerome has a Choice: ask owain for help or try to put the shirt back on and pretend this never happened.

the shirt starts coming down and he turns away from owain. ] ... It was colder with it off. [ yes. flawless. ]

[ oh no he's cute

owain closes the distance once more and gently starts tugging on the shirt once more ] Are you sure about that?

[ increasingly less sure. he actually gets lulled into putting his hands at the hem a second time before he stops and squints up at owain. ]

—Buttons. [ this shirt has buttons, owain, and is buttoned all the way up. of course he couldn't get it off. ]

[ he pauses, and then he can't help himself. he just starts laughing, moving his hands up to gerome's shoulders as he does so.

his fiance is so cute ]

[ he hates this??? minerva, please bite him immediately. since he doesn't actually want that he doesn't voice it but, the thought is there.

frowning deeply and leaning against owain. ]

[ immediately wraps his arms around him, taking flat out advantage of the fact that minerva is still sleeping in the room to get in this quality time with gerome. ]

This is quite unlike you.

And I dislike it intensely. [ but the hugging helps. going ahead and putting his arms around owain too. ]

Is there a reason why?

... I worked hard to sharpen my senses and perfect my balance. It may look effortless, but this is the result of tireless training. And yet now I feel as if I've forgotten it all. [ it may only be a few slips but this is. wrong. off.

more than anything though, how could he forget he had buttons? ]

Something must have happened... [ trying to think, but he can't think of any reason why gerome would be clumsy right now ]

No, noth— [ freezing. looks at owain, looks back at the other room. not explaining and rushing back instead. he glares at the bathroom door when he half runs into it, but other than that he heads to where he fell and drops to the floor.

[ follows after him! ] What is it?

[ it takes a bit but he does find the stupid paper and holds it up to owain. it reads:

"Without failure, there can be no growth." ] Before I tripped, I found this.

... A fortune?

[ a light kick to owain's ankle for all the doubt he's seeing. he's still on the ground, this takes literally zero effort. ]

It could be a curse.
